Mangoes to Australia - I say skip the skin!

Colour of love is Mango!

Summer is Mango Season in India. Plenty of variety await the Connoisseurs and commoners alike. We love the feeling that a tasty mango brings and we love to export this feeling!

Recently Australia opened up to this idea. First shipment arrived today / yesterday depending upon your time zone.

'Great!' you say.

Kesar is the first ever Indian Mango variety that reached the shores of Australia according to Media.

But the chief of the Entity that imported this mango variety is not so excited by this historic event and he shared his thoughts with media about the 'why' part. I just reproduce the juice of it here:

-----------

"The first consignment, I've got to say, was a little disappointing," PFA chief executive Michael Simonetta said.
"The fruit had a little bit of blemish on the skin and wasn't as evenly coloured as we expected it to be, so we're in the process now of getting it to colour more evenly and then offer it for sale following that.
"The eating quality is quite nice. It's pleasant to eat.
"The feedback has been okay and the upside for me as a consumer is that it tastes better than the Mexican Keitt [mangoes] that are in the market as well at the moment."
Mr Simonetta said the mangoes would predominantly end up with independent retailers.
"We have shown them to the major supermarkets, but at the moment the volumes are far too light.
"This is a trial and it's yet to be concluded, so while I'm a little bit underwhelmed, it's too early to call."
-----------
The new world order has marched relentlessly to the drumbeat of form over function to such an extent that TASTE, the very essence of the fruit, comes as a distant third in the criteria when it comes to marketability of a fruit!

Nature is not assembly line production. We the Super Market Mangoes...er...Mongers don't seem to get that at all.

Expecting blemish-less and uniform skin colour Kesars in tonnes is a tad too much asking from Nature.

I hope Australians go for the Juice and not for the Skin!
