Annus Mirabilis!

Year 1906: A Clerk in a Patent office in Bern, who was rejected entry into Zurich Polytechnic because of his poor scores in non-science subjects, publishes four papers that shakes up the scientific world like none before and the ripple effects are still on. So 1906 is hailed as Annus Mirabilis, the Miracle Year, by Scientific community world over.

Fast forward 111 years, something similar is cooking up in the sports world. A seemingly done and dusted old fella from Switzerland (again a Swiss!) who occasionally plays tennis when he is not running bath for his four kids, keeps on winning whenever and wherever he shows up!

In a few weeks from now he may astound us again by winning yet another Grand Slam (GS Nr 3 this year) without breaking sweat at the ripe old age of 36!

We are witnessing Annus Mirabilis of this Century folks! Enjoy it while it lasts. Sports shall never look the same hereafter!

  1. I think it was Tomas Berdych, (correct me if I'm wrong), in the post match interview in wimbledon semifinals this year "Only Federer can take a break for half a year and come back to play like this. If I take a break like that, I might as well retire from tennis ". Federer makes it look so easy.
