Magic of 8!

I met this guy from a Tier 3 city recently. He has been practising traditional healing  for a long time and is quite successful as his methods have been adopted by people en mass in many parts of our country.

Quite popular he is, talked to a bunch of us about the benefits of walking in 8s...that is, tracing an eight while walking, only this 8 has to have a minimum diameter of 5 feet (can go up to 8 feet or 10 feet depending upon the space availability) for each circle in the 8.

One had to walk for 30 minutes a day, either in the morning or before going to bed at night. The benefits seem to be enormous, ranging from weight good sleep to disappearance of diabetics as  well as Blood Pressure!

I have given an illustration of the 'walk path' below; you could draw this in your drawing room and walk around!

There is a big science behind this as the continuous movement (motor skills, gait, attention etc...) and the switch in direction from clockwise to counter-clockwise (or the other way around depending upon how you start your walk) seem to help people gain all the benefits I mentioned above and much more (like healing of joint pain, improvement in motor skills etc...). This method is incidentally floated by a doctor Deborah Sunbeck, a Clinical psychotherapist, back in the 80s under the name 'infinity walk' as the eight actually is the symbol that represents infinity.

Regardless of the origin (this gentleman I met said he is not sure of its origin though lot of people claim that it came from some Sidhas in India as there is no conclusive proof available) the benefits seem to be enormous.

Start walking in 8s from the day you read this post, practice it for a month and if you find it really beneficial as it claims to be, then do recommend this to your oldies who suffer from age / life style related ailments like joint pain, B.P, Diabetics etc...

By the way, it seems to be a guaranteed weight loss exercise vis a vis the 'miles and miles of fast walking for years' practised by so many people who still have the same pot belly that they started their walks with :-)
