One day I shall!

Story telling session in schools around my area has become a regular activity for me with 100+ super eager kids waiting to hear our group each time we (two of us) step up.

A couple of stand-out moments from the one we did today:

My fellow story teller narrated the story of the 'Fox and grapes' wherein the dejected fox finally runs off telling to fox-self that the grapes must be sour and not worth eating.

A kid from 3rd standard stood up and said he heard that story with a different end. So we asked him to join us and enliven the audience with his version. He narrated the story in similar lines but with this ending; the dejected fox looked up at the bunch of low hanging yet beyond reach grapes and said, 'mark my words, one day...one day I shall return and eat you for sure!'.

I have never heard this ending before!!!!

I then told a story about the unusual but beneficial (to the lion of course!) friendship between a Lion and a Mouse. A tiny hand went up and I pulled the girl to the stage to share her thought. She said 'Sir, the story tells us that even the tiny Mouse has the right to live'.
A round of applause followed and then my colleague asked her, 'so, even a tiny Mouse has the right to live. Well said...do you eat fish or chicken or lamb at home?'

You guessed her answer right and the heavily blushing girl promised that she would remember her statement next time when her Mom or Dad offered any of them to her :-)

Another school, another session tomorrow with a much larger audience - am super excited!!
