Not so neet

Some Dictionary definitions:

Neat: skillful, deft, dexterous, adroit, adept, expert, practised, accurate, precise, nimble, agile, graceful, stylish

NEET : screwed up beyond definition, recently.

Very well defined!

But there is more to the problem than what meets the eye.

State board paper correction is so liberal, we end up with lot of high scoring kids who fail miserably later at some stage of their chosen careers.

In a premier Govt. run Engg institution, 50 percent of Engineering students have multiple arrears by the time they reach third year, this year...forget employabilty skills.

Need of the hour is a big rethink on parents' minds:

1. Engineers and Doctors alone don't make up the working world.

2. It is OK to fail at times. A child falls down multiple times while learning to walk. Do we get angry on them for that?

3. Treat children as friends. Only then they would allow us to truly step into their worlds.

4. Encourage them to L E A R N, not just mug up. WE must sit with them to help them learn. ONLY THEN we will know their capabilities first hand AND our capabilities too.

Just think about this: how many parents accept the judgement on their kids by somebody else (teacher, mark sheet, neighbours etc...).

The absolute and sole responsibility of parents is to equip their children navigate their way around in a just manner in an unjust world...After all, we (parents) brought them into this world.

Anitha just re-presented the collective failure of all of us (who abdicated our responsibilities). Sadly we are alive debating our own makings and she is not. May her soul rest in peace.
