Padmavathi, the land, the buffaloes..

What a nation we have become!

A stranger walks into a village on some work. Scorching sun makes him thirsty. He sits in the veranda of a house after getting permission to do so and requests for water.
The owner obliges. They strike a conversation. It goes like this:

'So, what brings you here?'
'Ji, I came looking for chachaji who seems to have moved out a while ago...'
'Oh Chachaji, yeah, he did'
'Ji, I must admit; your village is fertile and beautiful. I wish I cld buy some farm land here'
'That is a great idea. Folks are talking about dairy farming too. Actually I am planning to buy  some buffaloes...So, what do u intend to cultivate in your land?'
'Mustard, maybe. But you wld have to keep your buffaloes on check!'
'Why??? What if I don't? Why can't you fence your land?!'
'Who are YOU to say this?????'
...
We all know too well how this story ends.

Padmavathi - the controversy surrounding it, how different is it from the one we just read?

There is a system to censor. There are moral codes drawn and redrawn continuously in the sands of our soil. All involved are only too aware of these as well as the stakes involved.

If the makers could screen the film privately for media houses before getting censor nod, why can't they show the movie to the non believers? Anyway they won't allow the release of the movie / screening of the same if their imaginary fears come true. Why subvert Censor Board while hiding behind it so far?

The movie is yet to be viewed by censor board while the quotient of bad blood keeps going up exponentially with each new media byte (sound / visual)!

Why Bansali is keeping quiet in spite of mounting criticism?

This may well turn out to be a glitzy marketing ploy turned bad, very bad...Controversy can sell tickets, loads of them but it also can kill creativity in one stroke. I guess Bansali knows.

"Hey Padmavathi Ma!, spare us poor Indians from the frenzy; we already got to deal with too many problems of our own making. A deficient monsoon, potholed roads, poison in our food, air and water, and so on and on and on... YOU won't be able to change any of these, ain't you?!"
