Coco : Metamorphosis of Dante!

I recently wrote a post on Festival of Dead in 'Hell of a Currency'. I didn't have any idea that Lasseter and his team at Pixar were about to let loose the most gorgeous 'Festival of Dead' we have seen till date!

It is a story about tradition, remembrance and the significance of it for the living as well as dead. It is a story about identity, music and a crack team at Pixar that stays so since the days of 'Toy Story'. Coco is so real and her eyes are so filled with life in the last scene, I suspect she is a real real person! Do we have technology that can really create an imagery so real?!

When Dante jumps over a tree branch to find Miguel in his secretive attic, when he and the 'forgotten one' are holed up in an icy water hole, when Miguel plays a video tape of interview of the best ever musician the world ever had...I can keep going; sheer genius that blurs the boundary between reality and animation to non existence!

Above all, it is a love story that unravels in the world of the dead and the world of the living which are connected by fine strands of memory and golden petals that forms the bridges between these two worlds, all in glorious 3 D!    And the twist!

There is a conspiracy theory about Da Vinci, that he was abducted by Aliens who gave him some extra ordinary skills we all know too well by now. I tell you, these folks behind Coco are all ALIENS! Period

Un Poco Loco!

Remember Me!

Mexico! Traditions! Spirit guides! Feels like India!!

I came out of the theatre with a big smile in my lips feeling like a kid just returning from a kaleidoscopic carnival of life that he had never experienced before :-) A true family entertainer, this one.

It would be an understatement if I say, 'Coco is very dead and very loving!'.

H a!,    W H A T  A   M O V I E!
