1970s to till date has been the best seat in the Arena to witness how the sport of life has been played on what with rapid advancements in so many spheres of life unfolding at breakneck speed!
While we are in the 'once in a lifetime break', rules of the game will have to be recalibrated, redrawn, redefined, whatever...before the game resumes.
The best seat in the Arena comes with the benefit of experience to predict how the sport will play on in the coming times.
Predictions below are straight out of my hunch/feeling, of having been the occupier of one such seat :-)
Here we go!
- Public spaces will be less crowded
- There will be a premium on Nature (establishments wld spread out from cities to villages)
- Marriages, functions and funerals will be with thin crowds
- Public events will also follow suite
- Tech will push everything into our homes, including medical care
- Women workforce percentage will steadily raise
- National currencies will lose significance
- Digital currencies per service will be in play, with special exchanges facilitating seamless switch between services
- Academy as it was will never go back (to that model)
- Learning will escape the Academia (and Houses), shall reach where the action actually happens, with the help of tech and learning based mobility solutions (akin to toilets for construction workers, people shall drive their mobile homes to places of learning)
- Mobile homes will be the biggest innovation, like what wheels did to our old world
- Consequently, industry hubs and mega cities will become obsolete and the whole world will become a giant camp site
- Medical industry will abandon the 'one medicine cures all races' kind of lab synthesis and go back to the 'roots' to treat illness locally, race specific / region specific
- Consequently, traditional medicine practice will go mainstream with data driven, sample testing approach to provide proof to what it practices
- Political systems and structures shall crumble
- Clan like life style shall evolve, based on common interests. This space shall face the maximum conflicts akin to tribal conflicts of the ancient world
- Mental illness will become the least bothering illness due to the changes clan like living will bring in to quench our thirst to 'belong to', to 'be accepted as we are'...
- We will never set foot on any other Planet, not because we won't have the capability but because we won't have the desire + because earth will create enough room for all by purging the excess we built
- Science will be the most popular time pass for children and only children. Grown ups will have moved on with life
- DIY will be the biggest industry, amply aided by tech (how about 3D printing your specs / medicine in a nearby 'Print Farm'?)
- Farming will employ the largest workforce ever seen
- Wars will be fought using high tech, to secure access to food, for a prolonged period before mankind will have learnt to live in harmony with Nature, sharing it all
- People will accept dying as a matter of fact and don't waste efforts to be immortal
