A kid in a friend's family ordered a bomber jacket thru an online portal.
I was there when the portal staff delivered the dress package.
She opened the box with lot of excitement and pulled out the stuff.
It was a denim jacket; only, torn in random fashion in multiple places with untrimmed edges.
She put it on, stepped up in front of us with a beaming smile and asked; 'Howww iiiss iiitttt?!'
None of us could hide our disappointment though we tried to sound quite positive; it just didn't gel on her!
She being a teenager, (you know how they approach feedback from grown ups, right?), we said it was kinda new to us and it looks really cool.
Few weeks later when I dropped in, she was sporting a similar denim jacket but no holes anywhere on it!
Surprised, I asked her what happened to the old one and she said 'I returned and got this one!'
She also posed the same question again; 'Howw iiiis iiitttt?!'
This jacket looked awesome, with neatly trimmed edges and all professional. So I said so and then asked her,
'But you loved the other one right? We all tried to grow up into the shoes of progressive oldies by switching to modern times when we commented last time but looks like you have gone back to our times!'.
She laughed and said this; 'Nope Old School! There are people who are forced to wear torn clothes due to circumstances... and the one I bought earlier, I thought it wld offend their sensibilities...'
Sensibilities, don't change regardless of the times we live in!
Stay blessed, kiddo! World needs more of your ilk!
(P.S: I wrote this to her Dad asking him to share it with her. Am sharing here with his kind permission)
