Luminous eyes. Ominous society.

Andhaman, Lakshadweep, Chattishgar, Diu, Daman and Puducheri - only states / UTs that don't have a rape hashtag presence in social media.

We can look at this in two ways (more ways if one is into rhetoric):

"So what? This IS true for any other state in any other Nation too! There is NO solution. You see, only when we  "see" this as a problem, we will look for solutions. Tell me, Where is the problem? We don't see any!"

OR

"Oh my! Worse than Pandemic spread and longevity of the disease. Stop everything we do and enact something that deters people absolutely from violating our women!"

Rape as an act, is not over the moment the violators "withdraw".

The wound, the puss, the scar, the stigma, the stress, the trauma lingers and grows. If the victims survive, that is...

What do we say about "Human rights" to them?

Why aren't our elected representatives, Women and Men, not able to work on a pragmatic solution yet? Or even collectively   (joining across party lines) demand a solution and help enact the same soonest by convening a special session of both houses?

(Why cant we borrow from our tribes? Our tribal roots had working deterrents; like social outcasting! If proven guilty, remove access to all govt schemes and legal rights, not just of the perpetrators but also of their immediate family members! because families still have collective responsibility towards the society by bringing up 'respectful' citizens...)

Individual agitations, stirs, legal recourse, political recourse, laws like #Nirbhaya are only 'reactive' measures and they seem not to deter perpetrators at all.

When shall we become 'ProActive' and provide preventive care to our beloved, deified, molested women and children?

Our apparent collective apathy towards such violations, is it because we deeply and subconsciously believe that desecrating modesty of the women (gosh, even statues of politicians get fences and security when miscreants desecrate them regularly!) IS the 'way of the Land' and only Lord Krishna can save them from such disgrace while mere mortals like us stay heads down, tongue tied in shame?

Can we at least provide them a judicial helpline at SC level, multilingual, to report their agony without having to go through tainted local law enforcement channels? (No! I didn't mean Republic TV!!).

(If the victim is dead by violation, the surviving family can use this mechanism to report and get closure)

SC then can trigger the redemption machinery (law enforcement machinery is too narrow a term in this context) that makes sure that the survivors lead a dignified life and the faithful departed (who "believed" in #mathrubhumi) are left to 'sleep' in peace and dignity (punishing the perpetrators wld provide the much needed closure for their living loved ones too...).

Why SC directly?

Well, all these incidents reach SC sooner or later and hence why wait?
