The 35 Million Minks Denmark has decided to Cull now, is the painful, right, final step in the liberation of the meek!
Here is a heart”felt” message:
People from cold countries love
to be covered in fur coats during harsh winters. Furs give them much needed
warmth and are light weight.
As an aside, the skins from which
the furs were removed, turn themselves into beautiful accessories like a hat or
a boot or a whatever that may be.
Suppose a person in Siberia or the
coldest place in Swiss Alps yearns for the warmth of a Mink coat.
He walks in into a global
superstore nearby, picks up a nice-looking coat of his choice colour, pay some
cash, wears it and leaves the shop, stepping out into the cold with the newfound
warmth given by the coat.
For this to happen, some things
had to happen in the background.
Like
Shipping finished fur coats to
sales points all over the world by logging millions of carbon miles.
Coloring the processed dead skin
and stitching them into nice coats. “The flesh under the skin?” Oh that! We
mince them to make feed for other animals / compost them to farm fertilizer /
incinerate them / dump them into unsuspecting soils / wet markets elsewhere. Cool.
By the way, when we incinerate them, we release tonnes of ammonia, sulphur,
phosphorus into the unsuspecting air, and hydrochloric acid too.
Chemically processing the dead
skin removed from live animals (okay! 'dead animals' if you don’t like cruelty to
animals!). By the way, this leads to lot of pollution in environment, potential
carcinogenic fallout not ruled out.
Removing the skin from live
animals (practiced in Asian region) / killing the live animals by euthanasia by
lethal injection / poisoned by carbon monoxide / hit in the head by a rod /
some other indescribably horrible methods.
Feeding the offspring; feed the offspring,
feed the offspring till they reach the ‘market required specifications’.
Providing excellent maternal care,
best in the world in fact, and rejoicing at the birth of offspring that are oh
so healthy.
Breeding the animals of choice
fur colours in extremely hygienic conditions under expert supervisory in very large ‘facilities’ custom built across many many countries that are
reluctant to close the door yet on this lucrative practice.
Raising the live animals of fur
colour that of the choice of the markets. Oh, we feed them quite well with
round the clock vigil on their health. We even provide swimming pools for them
poor animals to reduce their stress.
Selecting breeding stock in
millions, from what we call Fur Farms.
More than hundred million Minks,
Raccoons and foxes are ‘farmed’ every year to meet the soaring demand for fur coats,
hats, boots and what not!
Europe leads the pack, followed
by North America and China. These farms are governed and regulated by their respective
Agriculture Ministries.
Long activism against reluctant
governments, aggressive fur marketing MNCs + insatiable demand by You and Me, were making a case for stopping this madness, though in a phased manner. Many
countries are on their way to legislate closure of fur farms by end of this
decade (another ten years of raising and culling) and switch to petrochemical
based artificial fur stuff. Public at large still argues that artificial fur is
not the real deal (i.e. they don’t provide equivalent warmth)!
Nature changed everything within
a span of six months.
Starting from May 2020 in Holland
and till today’s announcement in Denmark, governments are coordinating mass
culling of Minks / Raccoons / Foxes raised in fur farms due to the realization
that Covid19 also loves their furs!
The realization that Covid19 has
infested the fur farms, mutated and are now infecting humans tending these
farms, thereby nullifying the efficacy of any potential vaccine in the pipelines
of the labs of world pharma companies, has forced them to act NOW.
They have no choice. We have no choice.
Or…do we?
With all the advancements of
Science and Tech, what stopped us from spending useful dollars in innovating a
sustainable and eco friendly alternative in the past three decades?
Nature has decided to change our
thinking and behavior after a long patient wait by unleashing Covid19 upon us (or
was it not Nature?!).
Minks and Raccoons and Foxes of
the world may finally be free of human cruelty fuelled by human vanity. They
shall raise, live and die as Nature intended, out there in the wild, far away
from the razed fur farms of the world, very soon.
The 35 Million Minks Denmark has decided to Cull now, is the painful, right, final step in the liberation of the meek!
