Pandemic, death, violence, war, fear, vaccine, greed...
Worried enough about these and feel fed up?
Let me suggest a new bunch!
"Must have" Top worries of an average Indian, whether there is a Pandemic around or not:
1. The Air I breathe is becoming more and more toxic. How do I know (air) quality in my neighbourhood? I see burning (old) beds, burning food waste, burning green waste...burning somethings that keep sending up toxic smoke time to time in the street sides
2. The Water I drink is tasting different on different days. Corp workers knock on my door time to time telling me that some overflowing choke pit somewhere near the water pipeline might have caused sewage to mix with the water that they supply. How do I be assured that I am not bathing in such water? Who will assure me?
3. The stuff I buy from shops time to time - None of them comes with any label that tells me the harmful chemicals the pack may carry (something like, 'this plain chocolate bar you munch may have traces of hazelnuts, Almonds and other such' - common stuff seen in Choco wrappers sold in privileged markets; I ask for such 'honest to God' info label on the pack of milk I buy, on the toothpaste I buy, on the oil pack I buy, on the veggies and fruits I buy, on the ice creams, pizzas and colas my kids demand at time...)
4. Why are shops packed to their teeth in plastic and why am I obliged to segregate plastic stuff from my garbage when I don't even want to take 'plastic' garbage home and then get into segregation drive? Why can't companies take back their wrappers for free / pay me for returning?
Why are They packing foodgrains and veggies in Plastic back? 'Segregation at Source' doesn't apply to Them?
5. Why my fuel cost (for my vehicle, home lighting, home cooking...) keep going up All the time regardless of the booms and busts of fuel markets?
6. Why my health cost keeps going up all the time though I spend more and more on Fitness activities, Wellness products and wholesome food?
Actually, if we use this (nr. 6) as a vantage point and look around, other five points take their prideful positions!
WHY ARE WE NOT WORRIED ABOUT ANY OF THESE YET?
